011The other day I was talking with my friend and she mentioned making a quilt for her nephew for graduation. That prompted me to think about the high school graduation coming up in our family and I decided that I should make a quilt for our son, who will be graduating high school in June. ( I don’t know WHY I hadn’t thought about it before then, maybe June seems a long way off because the weather sure isn’t warm(!), or maybe because I don’t want to think about another child going off to college…). Anyway, I digress….I found a cute pattern by April Rosenthal that I think will be perfect…easy to sew and I can make it as big or small as I want. Love those kinds of patterns! Here is a peek at some of the colors and the blocks.

This is such a versatile pattern! You could make it in so many different colors and it would look  different every time! I found this pattern on the Moda site and if you haven’t already, you should go check out  Moda Bakeshop . It is filled with FREE projects and they range from quilts to bags to accessories…lots of choices! For my quilt I decided to use blues, reds, browns, and grays. Good big boy colors,  I think. I’m hoping to finish up this project soonish so that I’m not stitching on the binding the night before graduation…..been there, done that ( Christmas Eve, rather than Graduation eve, but don’t want that stress again, thank you very much!)

Remember that cute Tulip table runner I started a little while back? I finished it and am super happy about the way it turned out! Such sweet colors and I just love those tulips.

I don’t know if I will make any more for gifts because I get a bit bored doing the same project over, but maybe a square table topper with different flowers would be cute?! Hmmmm.

Bloom block number 13 came out this week and I got that baby done quickly and easily. I changed the block up a little bit, but I like the leaves better this way!001

Another quilt top I finished up is this cute little thing! The pattern is called Oh Cherry and005 can be found here. I just love the sweet little cherries and can just imagine this quilt draped over a table while I’m serving lemonade this summer! Now if only I can quilt and bind it before summer arrives…

This past week I have also been busy testing a pattern. Almost done with that and I am really liking those colors!009As you can see, lots of activity in my quilt room this week! And NO cleaning up has taken place at all so it looks like a GIANT  mess!

Probably should go clean it up 🙂

Until next time!
