A quick post and a give away!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you are all spending the day with someone special, whether that be a spouse, or a friend( even the furry kind!), or a family member. I am spending my day at home with our youngest who is home sick from school πŸ™‚ It is giving me plenty of opportunity to work on finishing the binding on this quilt

which I am really hoping to deliver to its new owner this coming weekend! It has been a fun project to work on, even though the pieced backingimg_2200 caused me quite a few headaches! The whole quilt is kind of crazy and bright, but I am happy with the final result and I hope it brings the recipient some joy and distraction at a difficult time.

This past weekend I visited one of my favorite quilt shops, Log Cabin Quilt Shop,

to purchase more prizes for giveaways and mentioned my blog to the owner. She insisted on giving me this quilt pattern img_2202Β so that I could give it away to one of my readers! Isn’t she the sweetest?! I saw a sample of this pattern done with scraps and it looks amazing in person ( should have taken a picture!!).Here is a picture of the one on her website:slideshow_5 Anyway, I hope that you will visit Ruth’s shop’s website. She also has a Facebook page ( Tell her “hi” when you visit!) where she features the many quilts that the Amish and Mennonite ladies in the area make.Ruth explained she doesn’t have the time or manpower to put all her fabrics online, but she does sell patterns, books, kits, Β and other items, plus she shares plenty of pictures there, so it will be like you are visiting in person. And if you ever have a chance to be in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, you might want to make some time to spend time Β in Β her shop.

In order to have a chance to win the pattern Linking Hearts, just leave me a comment right here on my blog, telling me what color way you would make the pattern in. I will close this contest on Friday, February 17th at midnight EST. Good luck! ( and of course this contest is OPEN to everyone, everywhere! πŸ™‚ )

Well, I am off to make a cup of tea and make myself comfortable in my favorite chair and stitch the day away.img_2196

Until next time,

Monique

  1. My favorite color is green and I have not done a green quilt yet. I would make it in shades of green and soft rose as an anniversary quilt. Those were the colors my husband and I chose many years ago.

  2. Hi, I hope your little one is feeling better soon. I would make this in batik wine colors. I saw a quilt that a friend did in these colors and it absolutely glowed.

  3. I would go with soft pinks and cream. That is a really cute pattern. I love how your quilt has turned out! Your friend is very lucky to have something so special during trying times.
Thank you for all your hard work blogging! I always look forward to yours!

  4. My granddaughter is getting married this Fall and I’ve been searching for the perfect quilt pattern for her wedding gift! This pattern is perfect! Would love to win it and make it in her favorite colors of teal, green, and soft ivory. Thank you so much for sharing this giveaway and the website for the Log Cabin Quilt Shop.

  5. I like the idea of pinks and pale greens with a cream background. Just how I imagine my summer garden given that all we have now is a few snowdrops and emerging daffodils.

  6. That is an absolutely gorgeous quilt isn’t it!?! I’d love to step out of my comfort zone of cool colours and go with some warm summer colours like reds and yellows or even orange

  7. I like the colors used in the picture you shared but I think I would use more dark gray rather than black. I love the cheerful fabrics in your quilt, I am sure it will be loved.

  8. I think you’re right that it would really look cute scrappy! The blues and greens in my stash seem to be reproducing every time I close the door so I may have to get some of them out of there!,
