Last week our oldest boy was home for Spring Break. We had a great time doing some shopping, eating some special meals, going to the movies, and just hanging out as a family. On Sunday we drove him back ( does saying “goodbye” ever get any easier?!) and none too soon! We were hit by some nasty weather on Monday, which brought cold temperatures, wind, and lots of snow!
Our younger boys were off on Monday for a school holiday, and then ended up being home on Tuesday…..and Wednesday…..and Thursday morning….Trying to maintain a work, cleaning, shopping, and creative schedule is tough when everyone keeps being home! Especially since our youngest finds it terribly hard to entertain himself! Luckily I did manage to sneak off now and then and am happy to say that I finished my piggy quilt top! I am very happy with how it turned out. I think I could have made it bigger, but honestly, I was too lazy to make it bigger ( how is that for honesty?!). I am putting the measurements and details for this one in the tutorials, with lots of detailed photos, but here are some close-ups of the different pigs:
If you look closely, you will see that I got fancy with my machine stitches and used some fun ones!
It was nice to use some of those over 1300 stitches that I never, ever use! 😉
I did finish the bunny placemat that I talked about in this post and will write up that tutorial and post some pictures of that next time. It turned out simple but cute…perfect for a quick project!
Finally, I wanted to share the finished picture of this little table mat.
I started this a few years back and came across it when I cleaned up my room a few weeks back. I added some big stitch quilting in a scallop pattern and sewed on some antique buttons and there you have it….a cute little “springtime” table mat….except there is NO Spring to be found! Let’s hope that THAT changes real soon!
Okay, that is all I have to share this week…..I did start a little new project…..but more about that next time.
Have a great weekend!
