Just a super quick little blog post today…
I wanted to quickly pop in and share details about my little sew along…I have been sharing pictures and hints here and there and I thought I’d better let you in on the details. I really wanted to have the whole project done before I shared details, but we have been super busy with all kinds of projects and I didn’t get this finished nearly as quickly as I thought I could…but seeing as this is a “sew-along” I figured you could all just sew along with me! So I can’t show you the end result because I don’t have one, but I will tell you that this is a quick project ( unless you decide you want to make it bigger 😉 ), and it will involve some very simple piecing ( using your scraps!) and some very simple embroidery ( and if you followed along with my stamped girls you should have everything you need already!). You might want to pick up a few extra colors of embroidery floss ( some that go with the colors in your scraps, or some that say ” Spring” to you). This little quilt will make a great little table topper or wall hanging at the size that I’m making it. Ready to get started? Let’s go:
You will need to cut:
45 2 inch squares ( I used soft, pastel colors that remind me of Spring)
Sew these together into 5 9-patch squares like this:
Remember, you are making 5! These should finish at 5 inches square 😉
That’s all I will share for now. Go ahead and get these started and next week I will share the link to the embroidery patterns and a few details on how I did mine! If you get these done and are ready for the next part~ the embroidered squares~ you can go ahead and cut 4 6-inch squares from a white/light fabric. I like to back mine with a lightweight batting but you could use interfacing or nothing…it’s your choice! These will be the foundation for the embroidered blocks, and I will share those patterns this coming week.
Until next time~ happy creating!
