This week I have a bunch of disjointed things to share…of course~ that’s how you know it’s me! 😉
I joined a local quilt guild recently and the members have been making doll quilts to give away at Christmas ( although, they are more “cuddle blankets” than doll-sized quilt in reality). This past week a number of us got together and sewed the morning away and we were able to make 30 quilts! It was really helpful that the quilt layers had already been matched up for us so all we had to do was sew around the outside, turn it right-side out, and quilt! I was able to complete 2 during the meeting, but had so much fun that I decided to make some at home too. So I have been pulling together happy fabrics that I think some litle boy or girl will love.
They are pretty simple, with minimal quilting, but hopefully some little boy or girl will get a lot of joy out of having one.
I “decorated” for Fall and pulled out a few quilts that go with the season. It turns out that I don’t have nearly as many as I thought I did….good excuse to make some more, right? What I’m lacking is bigger quilts because, I have to admit, I am the queen of small and fast ( ie. table runners and wall hangings). So I need to make a BIG Fall quilt. The problem is that I’m not really fond of the traditional Fall colors so I’m going to have to make a few changes….teeheeee ( see last week’s blog post in case you missed it!). Anyway, here are the few quilts that I do have out:
And a few more:
This is one of my favorite quilts! I bought it as a kit many, many years ago when we still lived in Montana. I love the colors and the sweet scarecrow faces. And those jean pockets came from a pair of my old jeans! How cool is that?!
This was one of my first “quilt as you go quilts”, as well as one of my first blog shares. I of course love it due to the fun schrooms!
You probably recognize this one :). It is decorating our family room table and it adds a fun, bright accent in this room. ( And if you for one minute think that I didn’t need to clear a whole bunch of junk off of that table so that I could take a nice picture, you are badly mistaken!).
And I can’t forget about my latest Fall project…my Queen of the Harvest! She is all quilted and embellished but just needs a binding now: I have to admit that I loved working on this project and really didn’t want to be done!
Even though the quilt with my Singer sewing machine is not really a fall quilt, I think the colors are sort of Fall-like so it’s out too ( and those are my Geraniums that I brought inside for the winter~ I have had good luck in the past with overwintering them inside so I’m trying again….I just love Geraniums… they are almost as good as Daisies and Hollyhocks 😉 )
And finally, I had to include this painting…it’s not a quilt ( but it could be!), and it hangs all year round in our living room and I love it!
Okay, that’s all for this week. I do hope you are enjoying some nice Fall weather where you are…and please share pics of your decorating with me in the FB group or on the FB page! I love seeing what you are up to!
Until next time~happy creating!
