I have a crush…

Hello friends,

Does this ever happen to you? You pick up a fabric and, before you know it, you have a crush on it and end up using it in multiple projects. That recently happened to me. I picked up this fabric at my local creative reuse shop .

I am not even sure that I fell in love with it on first sight. It was interesting and colorful, but I wasn’t sure if I would have a lot of use for it. After all, how useful is a blue- backed-red-polka-dotty fabric? But in the basket it went and when I got home it sat on my shelf for a little while, waiting for its first project.

When I started work on my Happy Little Hearts quilt, that fabric drew my attention , and in went a few pieces. 20200331_095140

And have I shown you the back of that quilt? Oh yes! There it is again!

When I started my Happy Tulips quilt ( you can find the link to this tute in this blog post), I used leftovers from my Happy Little Hearts quilt, so of course there was that fabric again!

Is this reminding you of those Where Is Waldo? books yet?? Hahahaha.

Recently I started another new projectย  called My Whimsical Quilt Garden by Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins.

Can you guess which fabric made an appearance again?

Obviously I have a major crush on this fabric ;). And I’m going to be so sad when I run out….but no worries, I am sure I’ll find another fabric to crush on soon!

How about you? Do you experience fabric crushes? Or am I the only weird one here? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Until next time~stay safe, and happy creating!

  1. You are not the only one who has fabric crushes! I hate to admit it because I sound like a such a floozy but I have crushes, yes crushES! I have many fabrics that I love so much I hate to cut them up. I just want to cuddle and pet them. LOL One I finally used in a quilt and I am so sad that I only have a small strip of it left. It’s an older fabric so it’s no longer in production.

  2. Oh, Yes!! I have crushes on material as well. I have crushes on cardinal material. When Christmas rolls around and the cardinal material comes out, I always buy it. I have to have jelly rolls, fat quarters, etc. I will buy it buy the yard and Lord forbid it has shiny on it, I will buy the whole bolt….Hahaha….so, y’all are not alone. I have one shelf dedicated to cardinal material. Maybe a cardinal quilt for me is due!!

  3. Absolutely, I have fabric crushes. Iโ€™ll find myself using one fabric over and over again and it just seems to go with everything. Of course, Iโ€™m sad when itโ€™s gone but then I find something else. Ha! Maybe Iโ€™m fickle!

  4. Absolutely I am someone that crushes over fabric, when working in the fabric business I often came home with an entire bolt often ignoring other projects because I couldnโ€™t wait to use it. I have also been known to do that with books as well.

  5. You have used this adorable spotty dotty fabric and so many sweet projects.
I do love how you “utilized” your discovered fabric. Sometimes when we buy a fat quarter of something, we think, meh, I will put this in something, and then later… we develop an absolute crush, a surprise, really.
    Those are the best!!!๐Ÿฅฐ
