Hello friends and happy 4th if you are in the USA!
Today I wanted to share a few little fun sewalongs, just in case you are looking for something to keep you entertained this summer :).
First, there is the FREE Christmas sewalong happening in the Love&Hugs from Australia FB group( click here). This is a Christmas themed sewalong where a new 4 inch block design will be available every week. This one started July 1st but runs until close to Christmas. Just join the group to see updates and information about where and how to find the blocks.
Another FREE sewalong that has just started is the Moda Bake Shop Summer in the Country:Grandstand. You can find that link right here, just scroll down to the appropriate sewalong( look for the June 29th starting date!) This quilt will finish with 16 12-inch blocks plus borders to make a 56×70 inch quilt.
Obviously everyone likes to do mystery quilts, because this next one also does not give any hints as to the design of the blocks: This one is called Jelly Snowflake Mystery sewalong and started July 2. Here is the layout, with one block design coming out each week, until July 30th:
The link for this sewalong is right here:https://www.ilovetomakequilts.com/jelly-snowflake-sew-along.html
One word of warning: I do find this website super busy and confusing and sometimes it is hard to find what you are looking for!
And finally, if a “mystery quilt” sewalong is not your thing, I have a little summer challenge for you! I don’t know about you, but I am terrible about judging a quilt pattern by the color the maker used. I just have a really hard time looking past browns or purples or other colors that are not really my favorites and I won’t be attracted to make the pattern solely because of the colors used….terrible, isn’t it? So this summer I am challenging myself ~ and YOU~ to choose a quilt pattern and make it in your prefered colors! I perused my quilt books and found this quilt that I will make in some of my favorite colors:
If you decide you would like to try my challenge there is no need to sign up anywhere. Just take a photo of the original quilt pattern and then share your version with me in August sometime ( either via email or via FB). I will remind you again closer to the end of August how to share with me so no worries. I will write a blog post showcasing all the challenge quilts after I receive the results and hey, maybe I will send out a little something to one or two participants ;). I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Until next time~happy creating!
