I Love Home~ Block 3 revealed!

Hi everyone,

It is time for Block 3 in the I love Home BOM! I am enjoying this quilt so much, how about you? You just can’t go wrong with house blocks in my opinion ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you ready to get started? Okay then! ( If you haven’t signed up for these blocks, there is still time! You can go here for more info:ย https://jacquelynnesteves.com/i-love-home-bom-block-3-is-here/)

Block 3 is soooo cute..it might be my favorite block yet…Shhhhh! Don’t tell the others ๐Ÿ™‚

Block 3 I Love Home

I of course had to include my cute little girl and her baby!ย And I chose to do some extra machine quilting touches on the windows!

I have found just the perfect shades of thread to do my appliquรฉ with ( with the perfect name, I might add:D),ย  and these adorable buttons were just what I needed to find the perfect doorknob because my door was in need of a doorknob!fun colored thread and buttons always add an extra special touch!

Sewing this block surround is a little more tricky, due to the Half Square rectangle blocks! Luckily Jacquelynne has provided a great video tutorial which explains these very well. ( I didn’t mess mine up AT ALL, so that says something!). I love her way of squaring the blocks up too….going to remember that little trick!

The Half Square Triangles are of course much easier to do…especially because we have already done those in the previous 2 blocks! I used a great little ruler to square these up: It is called “Cute Cuts” and is designed by Lori Holt.ย ย Squaring up is super easy with this ruler!

This ruler trimmed my blocks to just the right size, and because it has all those diagonal lines, it was a cinch to line it up! I only have the 4 1/2 inch size but am seriously considering picking up a few more in different sizes!

Another tool that was super helpful is the Purple Thang. I only got one of these recently but already it’s a tool I would replace immediately if I lost it! It is so helpful in guiding your fabric through your machine without risking sewing your fingers!the Purple Thang comes in handy at bulky spots! Here is the block, all finished up! So cute! I can’t wait until I get all the blocks together and see what they look like ….this quilt is going to go on display as soon as I finish it!

Alright, now for the “business” part of this blog post: Last month’s winner of the FQ bundle was Delaine Elliot….yay for Delaine! Second try ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ yep, I definitely have a bunch of Christmas things going on…sort of freestyling it with my Christmas scraps and I’ve ended up with some cards, placemats, bags, and mug rugs, and some with applique, will show off when I’m done ๐Ÿ˜ƒ love the next block, and love your version of it. I’m getting there still with the applique, decided to colour coordinate threads so it’s taking a bit with all the other goings-on . Oh and big congrats to delaine ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘

  3. I’m in a QAL to complete a Christmas lap size quilt and will be donating that when it is complete. BUT I am way behind in getting family gifts started. Looks like there will be some late nights in my near future. It’s all good ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I have a dozen Christmas projects and ideas floating around in my head but haven’t started any of them yet. Reason: still working on a sunflower table runner (with buttons no less). Then I need to finish a few Halloween and Thanksgiving projects, then it’s on to Christmas projects. I plan on making a couple of table runners, mini quilts and wall hangings. I LOVE decorating and giving homemade quilted items even if they are small.

  8. I have several Christmas projects in mind, but I haven’t started any so maybe I won’t get any made. However, I just retired last month so I have a much better chance at getting some done than in the past!

  9. I plan on making hot pads and a tote for my 93-year-old mom’s walker. Haven’t decided on the pattern for that yet. But first I need to finish the little dress I am making for my Operation Christmas Child box.

  10. I am making ALL my Christmas gifts this year after having to care for my father on hospice since January with no insurance in my home. Times are tough in our house. But I do have fabric! Daddy passed last month and so I am making quilts for my family that all have some sort of “meaning” to them in regards to daddy. I know they will all love them. I am sweating bullets to get them done though. Shwew.

  11. Yes! I am hoping to finish a quilt for my father. I just had foot surgery so I have been a little off of my game. But I WILL get it done. All else depends on my foot and how it cooperates.

  12. Yes I am making my daughter and granddaughter quilts for Christmas. One is not even started. I better get busy. Thanks for a chance to win.

  13. I AM!!!
    I’ve sort of started. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’ve gotten 90% of the cutting done… but then I realized that I’m missing one piece of fabric, so I have to go buy that after the next paycheck and then I can start the sewing (it’s paper pieced, so I don’t want to start until I have everything) I’m making a Christmas tree wall hanging for my parents. I can’t wait to see it all finished! Can you tell that I’m a little excited? LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Hi, I am planning on making some mug rugs for family with their initial on them. This quilt along may be a Christmas gift for someone in the family also – especially since I am making it in Christmas fabrics.
